Nail it

Learn and build a yurt with hands on skills.

The goal of each yurt workshop is to provide an ongoing learning experience. Noteworthy are the many skills such as producing the lumber with a portable sawmill and building yurts from the raw materials left behind form the fire. Above all, yurts can provide a sustainable method for rebuilding a community. Hence, rebuild and strengthen the community as a whole.

Everything from pre-assembly of all yurt parts including canvas, floor construction and final yurt set-up will take place.

Fast and simple to build, portable yurts provide emergency shelter and as a result can be the first step towards rebuilding a complete home.

How do I get a yurt?

Come to the yurt workshop to learn and participate in building and assembling yurt components. Take home yurt components as we make them until you have everything necessary for a complete yurt. When you have your location ready and all the materials we will schedule a yurt raising day. The yurt raising will be a one day project where we build the floor and set up your yurt.
